April 2024: Facial Steaming Benefits

April REFLECTIONS

Spring is such an inspiring and cocooning time for me. It’s the new tree blossoms and unexpected thundershowers. It’s wanting to be awake while parts of your spirit are still nestled in the winter. This month teaches me to roll with the waves. To not be rigid, to allow opportunities to come, and to understand with gratitude the doors that are closing. There are no knowns in April, so we must sit with the ever-unfolding unknown. I hope we can all find some peace in this season, in this month of mystery.

Ancient Rituals At Home

Facial Steaming

The practice of facial steaming dates to ancient times, where it was considered an essential beauty ritual. In ancient Rome, public bathhouses featured steam rooms, allowing individuals to envelope their bodies and faces in the warmth.

Facial Steaming

Our take on the ritual

We recommend cleansing your skin well before you start a herbal steam as this will open up your pores ~this ritual does take a little more time, so it’s important to be realistic when fitting it into your schedule.

Using a large bowl, pour in 4-6 cups of steaming hot water, add a handful of herbs, and a few drops of essential oils.

Founder favorites include dried rose, lemon verbena, and lavender.

Drape a towel over your head and the bowl, creating a steam room, and hold your face about 14 inches above the water. Let the warm steam envelop your skin for 5 to 10 minutes.

Take this time to relax, to meditate, try to empty your mind and release the tension.

After the steam, gently rinse your face with lukewarm water and pat dry.

Finish your ritual with our Neroli & Frankincense Hydrating Mist and Copaiba & Tamanu Balancing Oil.
