An Ancient Practice Across Cultures

Chinese medicine

Rooted in TCM for thousands of years, gua sha was used to stimulate circulation, encourage the movement of qi (life force), and help release stagnation believed to contribute to pain, tension, and illness.

Indian ayurveda

Ayurveda has long incorporated massage and scraping techniques, including kansa tools and dry brushing, to stimulate circulation and support the flow of energy and encourage detoxification.

latin concepts

Indigenous healers and sobadores developed hands-on therapies that emphasized massage, friction, and manual techniques to relieve tension and restore wellness to support natural circulation and the body's rhythms.

Vietnamese practice

The practice of cạo gió ("scraping the wind") has been passed down through generations as a household remedy. Using coins or smooth tools with herbal oils to help ease headaches, fatigue, and muscle aches.

Indonesian remedy

Kerikan or kerok became part of traditional Jamu wellness culture. Gentle scraping techniques were often combined with warming oils and herbs to promote circulation, relieve discomfort, and restore balance.

Egyptian Therapy

While not identical to modern gua sha, smooth tools and friction-based therapies were used to soothe muscles, encourage circulation, and support physical and spiritual well-being, reflecting a shared belief in the healing power.

This is skincare as ceremony, and a quiet return to self.

More than a skincare tool, gua sha is an invitation to slow down, to reconnect with breath, touch, and the quiet intelligence of ritual. This white jade gua sha tool inspired by traditional facial massage rituals and designed to complement your skincare routine. Used with facial oil, it glides effortlessly across the skin to encourage circulation, release facial tension, and support a healthy, luminous appearance.

how to use

Use this tool after cleansing and toning, and apply 4-6 drops of our Copaiba & Tamanu Balancing Oil all over your face and neck. Hold your gua sha with the curved side to your face. Gently glide it gently up and out, starting with the neck, and use a combination of short and long strokes.

Glide upward and outward using light pressure:

Begin at the neck
Move along the jawline
Sweep across cheeks
Glide beneath the eyes
Finish across the forehead

Use feather-light strokes and always direct movement down the neck afterward to encourage drainage. For an extra cooling experience, place your gua sha in the refrigerator before use.
