September 2024: Scalp Massage & The Return of Seasonal Scents

September REFLECTIONS

September is a month of reclaiming your time, your space and your identity. Taking quiet moments to peer in and look at yourself through a new lens. Anchored in set schedules and finding your body - expand within these moments of freedom, even if they feel fleeting.

Ancient Rituals At Home

Scalp Massage

Around 600 BC, Indian head massage (champissage or champi) was first documented in the texts of Ayurveda. Originally Champi was centered around the head alone with the aim of improving hair growth and conditioning the hair. Scalp massages can improve hair thickness, stimulate hair growth, remove dead skin cells and product build-up, improve oil control, and reduce dandruff.

Scalp Massage

In Our RItuals

Scalp massages are simple and can be easy to add into your daily rituals.

“When I have extra time to spend in my routine, my go-to for extra hair love is using our conditioner as an intensive hair mask. I add the conditioner to my dry hair and then wrap it up in a warm towel for 10-15 minutes before washing my hair as usual. “ - Jeriel (founder)

While washing your hair, using your fingertips, apply light to medium pressure on your scalp and massage in small circular motions. You can massage in either your shampoo or conditioner.

Make sure to make your way across your scalp to cover all areas and try to massage your scalp for at least 5 minutes.
